Pair Of Sharps Are Aces

Two Sharp models based on the same highly reliable engine were both honoured for the outstanding performances they turned in during BLI’s rigorous two-month lab test. At 26 ppm and 31 ppm, respectively, the Sharp MX-2600N and MX-3100N both scored very high marks in nearly all aspects of performance.
Recipients of BLI’s “Highly Recommended” rating, both offer very good print quality in both black and colour. They also excel in areas of importance to IT professionals, with simple procedures for setup on the network, easy to use print drivers, comprehensive feedback to workstations and an excellent offering of security features. “While both of these Sharp models offer very good print quality and ease of use, their exceptional scan functionality in particular places them ahead of many of their competitors,” said BLI Managing Editor Daria Hoffman.
“Sharp offers these distinctively designed models with an optional retractable keyboard that makes it easy for users to enter e-mail addresses and the indexing data that makes retrieving documents much easier,” said Hoffman. In addition, the units enable scanning to multiple different types of destinations in a single operation, show a preview of the scanned image and enable integration with a range of applications via OSA.
“Sharp is very pleased to receive these prestigious BLI ‘Pick’ awards for the MX-2600N and MX-3100N,” said Keiichi Katsuta, President of the Division Sharp Information Systems Europe. “The MX-2600N and MX-3100N colour workgroup document systems represent the best in performance, features and reliability in the low- to mid-volume workgroup category with their leading technology innovations, such as an integrated retractable keyboard, high-resolution touch-screen display, dual-head scanning and Sharp OSA technology.”
Innovation, Image Quality Help Xerox Earn “Picks” In Business Colour
Demonstrating outstanding reliability over the course of their 105,000-impression durability tests, the Xerox WorkCentre 7425, 7428 and 7435 have earned Spring 2009 BLI “Pick” awards in their respective speed ranges.
Chief among the enhancements over their predecessors is Xerox’s newly-developed LED print head technology. In addition to allowing the devices to be more compact, with fewer moving parts, the LED technology helps to achieve lower power consumption.
In addition to their excellent reliability, the three Xerox models offer image quality image quality superior to that of most other competitive models evaluated, with excellent ratings for both colour business graphics and colour photographic output in print mode, as well as for most aspects of quality in black print. Even in copy mode, image quality was very good overall in both colour and black.
“Productivity was also strong in a number of key areas for all three units, including the colour and black job stream tests, which simulate the type of traffic devices experience in a real-world, multi-user environment,” said BLI Assignments Editor George Mikolay. The ease of programming is also exceptional, both from the control panel and from the bidirectional print drivers, which provide highly detailed consumables feedback to users. Another strength of these models is that the drums and waste toner container are user replaceable, which eliminates the downtime that would otherwise be required for service to replace these components.
All three devices are EIP-enabled, allowing the device to integrate easily with third-party workflow applications to simplify tasks such as accounting and document management. For example, DocuShare Express 6 turns paper documents into electronic files that can be archived, searched, accessed remotely and collaborated upon.
Also noteworthy are that maximum paper capacities are the highest or among the highest for each model’s competitive group, and paper weights up to 140-lb. index can be accommodated through the majority of paper trays.
“The Xerox WorkCentre 7400 colour multifunction series delivers professional-quality colour and unmatched performance,” said Mark Boyt, Manager, Office Product Marketing, Xerox Europe. “These compact new devices have been engineered with savings in mind; savings on time, energy, running costs, space, downtime and environmental impact. This recognition reinforces Xerox’s position as a leader in office colour printing.”
Stay tuned for upcoming Buyers Lab “Pick” award announcements in the following categories:
June 5: 41- to 75-ppm Copier MFPs
June 8: Monochrome Printers
June 10: Colour Printers
June 12: Special Awards
